Florida Woman Faces 14 Felony Charges After Shooting at Rihanna's Beverly Hills Mansion

A 35-year-old Orlando woman drove across the country to fire an AR-15-style rifle at the pop superstar’s home while she and her family were inside.

Cross-Country Journey Ends in Gunfire

What started as a bizarre obsession in Orlando ended with gunshots echoing through one of Los Angeles‘ most exclusive neighborhoods. Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, a 35-year-old speech pathologist from Florida, now faces 14 felony charges after allegedly firing multiple rounds from an AR-15-style rifle at Rihanna’s Beverly Hills mansion on Sunday afternoon.

The shooting unfolded around 1:20 p.m. while the nine-time Grammy winner was home with her partner A$AP Rocky and their three young children. Police say Ortiz drove up to the sprawling property on Heather Road and opened fire from her white Tesla, sending at least 10 rounds toward the mansion before fleeing the scene. One bullet pierced through a wall of the home, but miraculously, no one was injured.

Swift Capture and Staggering Bail

The brazen daylight attack triggered an immediate police response. Within 30 minutes, LAPD’s air unit had tracked Ortiz’s Tesla to the Sherman Oaks Galleria, about three miles from the shooting scene. Officers found her vehicle and recovered the assault-style rifle along with seven shell casings.

Ortiz was booked on attempted murder charges early Monday morning, with bail set at a staggering $10.225 million. The astronomical amount reflects the severity of the charges and the number of people who were in the home during the attack. On Tuesday, prosecutors formally charged her with 14 felony counts, including attempted murder with special allegations, 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and three counts of shooting into an inhabited dwelling.

A History of Disturbing Behavior

Court records paint a troubling picture of Ortiz’s recent behavior. Just months before the shooting, she filed an emergency petition trying to block a Billie Eilish concert in Orlando, claiming it would cause her ‘immediate and irreparable harm’ due to noise and traffic. The lawsuit, which sought damages between $75,000 and $100,000, was quickly dismissed by a judge.

Her social media presence reveals an even more disturbing pattern. In rambling YouTube videos and Facebook posts, Ortiz made bizarre accusations against Rihanna, claiming the singer was ‘stealing’ from her, calling her a ‘witch,’ and alleging that Rihanna appeared in her dreams. One Facebook post from February 23 directly tagged the singer’s Instagram account with the message: ‘@badgalriri Are you there?’

Ortiz’s criminal history in Florida includes arrests for domestic violence in 2023, careless driving in 2021, and multiple traffic violations dating back to 2008. The domestic violence incident involved a confrontation with her ex-husband during a child custody exchange, where she allegedly threatened him and used homophobic slurs.

Celebrity Security Under Scrutiny

The shooting has rattled the normally quiet celebrity enclave, where multimillion-dollar estates are protected by tight private security. LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell confirmed that 10 people were in the home at the time of the shooting, though he wouldn’t specify whether Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, or their children were among them.

This isn’t the first time Rihanna has faced security threats. In 2018, a man named Eduardo Leon broke into her Hollywood Hills home and spent 12 hours there before being discovered. He was sentenced to five years’ probation and ordered to undergo mental health treatment.

Ortiz is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in a Los Angeles courtroom. Investigators are still working to establish a clear motive for the attack, though they believe she drove from Florida specifically to target the singer. The case serves as a stark reminder of the intense security risks celebrities face, even within the supposed safety of their own homes.
